Golden Gate Helicopters is a great place to work; consequently we don't have a lot of turnover, but we do occasionally go into hiring mode.
Although we are a Part 61 facility, we have developed our own training materials and syllabuses, and we expect our instructors to use them. We conduct stage-checks and require 90% or above on written exams. We train even our private students to professional standards; we operate in a very busy air traffic area that demands that extra vigilance and level of expertise. We use Robinsons for training.
We are not a flight academy. We conduct all of our flight training one-on-one at the client's convenience.
To become a flight instructor at Golden Gate Helicopters, you must:
- Hold a US passport or green card and the appropriate FAA licenses
- Be a CFII
- Be current
- Have at least 400 hours Total Time in helicopters
- Have at least 50 hours in an R44
- Have attended the RHC Safety Course
- Have the SFAR73 signoff to instruct in both the R22 and R44
- Hold a current Class 2 medical
We do favor our own graduates when hiring, however we cannot guarantee employment. Applicants with the following have an advantage:
- Experience in busy urban air traffic areas
- Weight less than 180 pounds, due to weight limitations of the R22
- A college degree or previous life experience in some other skilled profession
- Training at a reputable flight instruction facility
A GGH flight instructor is eligible to fly Part 91 commercial operations (such as photo and survey flights) and for Part 135 initial training when s/he has at least 500 flight hours and meets other company and FAA criteria for additional responsibility.
If you meet our qualifications, you can email your resume and a cover letter to us. We prefer PDF format, but can accept DOC or DOCX documents, or links to online documents.
